Leadership

What does it mean to be a true leader, especially when a nation and the World is infected relativism.   Historically a Leader is measured or defined on how well he handles conflict, especially in turbulent times, whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. Historian Doris K Goodwin asked a series of profound and pertinent questions: are Leaders born or made? Does the time make the Leader or does the Leader shape the time? I’m not a philosopher, however, geopolitics is one of the oldest professions to leave its mark on Society. Consequentially the Office of the Presidency is prototypical and it’s the pinnacle Leadership. The nation and the Presidency need an individual with strong leadership skills who’s characterized of making tough decisions and sticking by them regardless of the pressure that’s circumventing the line drawn in the sand. Or the populous clamoring for him to be politically correct.

President Joe Biden is doing very well, thus far, despite the polarization and the complexity of the United States. Notwithstanding he has manage to unifying the nation like his Predecessor, President Barack Obama. But his leadership on Foreign Affairs is even more impressive in the supporting of Israel one of our closes allies, which is stellar. However, the war between Israel and Hamas which has gone on practically little over seven months. And the pressure mounting to withdraw his support for Israel by the Palestine Americans protest. Conversely, certainly this will be a test of President Biden backbone to either to conform or set a precedence and to distinguish himself from his contemporaries.

Ironically, I’m republican who had also jumped on the bandwagon to supported former President Donald Trump being part of the coalition of the Evangelical born again Christians movement. Who believe that it was the will of God for Trump in 2016 to be President and Commandeering Chief of the United States. However, the role reversal has dramatically shift for me. America is the symbol of Democracy; and regrettably America is teetering on the brink of becoming Authoritarian nation. I emphatically believe a vote for Trump will be the end of Democracy as we know it. I truly believe the Evangelicals need to do some introspect when it comes to endorsing Presidential candidate. We can’t back a candidate base on relativism regardless of the moral decline in our society, that would be absurd.

Whether you’re Democrat or Republican I absolutely believe character should be synonymous, with leadership. Consequently, character also should take precedence over charisma especially with the magnitude of the Office of the Presidency of the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln for example is the quintessential leader in my humble opinion, for all times. He a was man of conviction, despite the culture wars and the many challenges that he faced in his day. Think about it, he had to contend with the Civil War, and slavery… among other things during his Presidency. He made tough decisions that the average leader or lesser man would succumb or fold under such intense pressure–He wasn’t popular with his Base let alone the polarizing nation.

[T]oday, regarding the Intuition of politics we need more of Abraham Lincoln’s moral character in leadership, in every stratum of society who are willing to make tough decisions even if means breaking away from partisan politics. Unequivocally, I explicitly believe many people innately believe that Abortion is wrong–The long old debate, does life begins at conception, not only should it resonate biologically and morally, but it’s a proven fact that life does begins at conception (Jeremiah 1:5). Nevertheless, many people because of tradition or party partisan even after, the reversal Roe vs Wade there are still many people who refuse to break from their party ideology. “Political society exists for the sake of noble actions, and not of mere companionship” Aristotle.

We’re living in a culture of relativism–post morality (apostasy) society where there are no absolute moral boundaries (see Isaiah 5:20). And that’s why we as [E]vangelicals can’t afford be reactionary to the American culture wars if we’re intend to impact our spheres of influence. Rather we must raise and set and adhere to higher standards if are going to pragmatically make a difference in our society. Indeed, leadership is paramount, whether you’re Politician or the catalyst who empower them: we must lead by [E]xample to recapture our credibility and be a force to be reckon with in the political arena.
