Queen Jezebel of the Old Testament was the daughter of Ethbaal king of Sidon, and the wife Ahab king of Israel. Personally my first encounter with the spirit of Jezebel, was over several years ago living in the state of Florida, although that event and timeline was less than a year. Notwithstanding, the warfare that I experienced with the spirit of Jezebel was vicious, debilitating and combative. Consequently, the combat was so intense, so much so, that I believe if I didn’t leave I would’ve been a casuality of war. Because my knowledge of the spirit Jezebel at that time was very limited. Even though, I’ve read and aware of both accounts in (1 kings 18:4) and (Revelation 2:20) about the spirit of Jezebel. Although the two women of Jezebels mentioned in the Scriptures, respectably, which they live in different eras of the Old and New Testament, are both dead. Notwithstanding, today the spirit of Jezebel regrettably lives on and who seek to control her victims at any cost. In fact, the spirit of Jezebel is one of Satan’s diabolical emissaries that are assigned to committed, reprehensible atrocities against the body of Christ, especially against God’s anointed Servants.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the knowledge or the experience, that I now have at my disposal. The spirit of Jezebel primarily operates in women, (but are not limited to) and this spirit is magnetized towards prophets and the prophetic ministers. They include Minstrels, Psalmist, Worship Leaders, and Prayer Warriors. Especially, those are on the frontline. Unfortunately, one of the deceptions of these women that are possessed by this sinister spirit of Jezebel they believed themselves to be a prophetess. Both accounts of Jezebels mentioned in the Bible were counterfeit of the prophetic gift of prophecy. The impetus of Jezebel spirit, is motivated to seduce, manipulate and control her intended victims and eventually she will destroy whether that be an individual or a ministry (Revelation 2:20). Unless that spirit is delt with in the spirit, through spiritual warfare it will stop at nothing to distroy it’s victim. The proceeding narrative that I will attempt to outline succinctly a litany of a list of characteristics of the spirit of Jezebel.
As I alluded above one of the main characteristics which the spirit of Jezebel tries to control its victim through salacious sexual seduction as well flattery to fulfilled her hidden agenda. The pursuit of power. Behind her mask she will sing their praises, until you object, or refuse to adhere to her agenda. Then you’ll quickly see the vicious side of her fury. Let me underscore, if you cross her, consequently, Jezebel behavior will become opprobrious and abusive. Of course as a believer you must be cognitive of the fact of who you’re in Christ and walk in your authority to contend in spiritual warfare in the realm spirit to push back the spirit of Jezebel or else you’ll become docile and ineffective for the Kingdom of God. (Col 2:15 Luke 10:19)
Another characteristic of Jezebel, she’s a cunning to manipulator, she has a seductive tongue and there’s nothing she will not say or do to get her way. For instance, I’m mindful how Jezebel conspired and manipulated the circumstance to confiscate Naboth’s the Jezeelite prized vineyard that King Ahab was so sickly and green with envy for his vineyard. As a result, Jezebel usurp the king’s authority and wrote letters in Ahab name to the Elders of Israel to proclaim a fast, in essence to set up Naboth for his demise. In conjunction with the sons of Belial, they were illicit and complicit to bear false witness, against Naboth, that he blasphemed against God and the King. In light of those letters, and the conspirators who lied to the Elders, regrettably that was Naboth’s death sentence (1 Kings 21:1-13). As you can attest, there’s nothing that is contemptible to Jezebel, killing is also consistent with her wicked and notorious ways. Consequently, It’s also part of her purpose to control her prey by pulling his or her proverbial strings, which Satan is the puppet master.
Today is no different, we still have to contend with the dichotomy of Jezebel who will oppose those who’re walking circumspectly and living an uncompromising lifestyle; who’re also impacting the kingdom of darkness. Similar to the days of Elijah the prophet who impacted the spiritual climate in the earth as well as the spiritual realm. (1 Kings 17:1) Jezebel invariable will target the prophetic, because they also foresee beyond the peripheral, and the foreseeable future. As a result, we’re God’s watchmen impacting the invisible world. Consequently, our light is piercing the darkness, even if it attracts the fury of our nemesis, vicariously through the diabolic spirit of Jezebel. Not only do the prophetic ministry foresee beyond the peripheral, they’re also able to change times and seasons through prayer (Daniel 2:19-21).
Probably you’re wondering how do you conquer this stubborn and rebellous spirit of Jezebel, who’s aim is to destroy you? Equally you must also be tenacious, and unrelenting in the Word of God and prayer warfare, despite what it looks like in the natural. Some days, you may not feel your prayers are impacting the works of darkness. Nevertheless, you must be mindful of the Scriptures and perceive through the lens of faith that the fervent prayer of the righteous are having a profound affect in the realm of the spirit (James 5:16, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Indeed, you can be assured that your prayers are dismantling that spirit of Jezebel that is conspiring against you. Because the Scripture declares: “for surely the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly” (Romans 16:20).
